Discount Gargoyles

Discount Gargoyles

Midway presents an offsite collaborative installation in the Lasalle Ave Parking Ramp in downtown Minneapolis

Discount Gargoyles is an ongoing collaboration between Jay Heikes, Wyatt Lasky, and Jonathon Rosemond with additional contributions by Quinn Barnard, Katelyn Farstad, Manuela Leal, Kelsey Olson, Bruce Tapola, Jack Vater, Vita & Claude, and Sophie Weil.

The project started off as a joke in jest between Wyatt, Jonathon and Jay in 2018 about what art could survive in an era of so called ‘late capitalism’. Back then, landing on the possibility of actually turning the studio into a production line specializing in low quality gargoyles seemed like an obvious decision as the dares and discussions progressed. As the years passed and the comedy ensued, a rag-tag group of collaborators sauntered and crept in and out of the studio. Dreams of a truly collaborative and democratic process took shape but not in the way they originally thought.
Just one more little change:

Discount Gargoyles is installed on the 4th and 5th floors of the Lasalle Ave Parking Ramp in downtown Minneapolis. Whether you arrive by bus, ride your bike, or park in the ramp (free parking vouchers available during the walkthrough), find your way to floor 4 via the elevator.
