Dirt: A Matter of Reverence is an installation exhibit by artist Sandra Menefee Taylor that will be on display in the Ford Family Gallery at White Bear Center for the Arts from June 26 to August 5.
The Ford Family Gallery will soon be filled with dirt. Artfully designed, thoughtfully intricate dirt. Sandra Menefee Taylor’s work is propelled by the deep interest she has for matters of land, body, and spirit. She chooses materials that bring their own meaning, and looks for voices that connect, like poet-farmer Wendell Berry, who says, “Soil is the one thing we all have in common.”

Lecture with Sandra Menefee Taylor:
There seems to be a big question that all of us answer in different ways and at different times: “Where does art come from?” Sandra will explore the answers to this by giving a nod to history, and how it takes place between herself and the work. She will also generate a conversation with the 18th century painter Millet about the work in the gallery.
