Hopkins Center for the Arts is proud to present DAYDREAMLIKE, an exhibition of paintings by Ekaterina Kazachenko in the HCA First Floor Lobby Gallery.
Russian-born, Minnesotan painter Ekaterina Kazachenko’s paintings examine the mystical, magical, and mysterious alternative world of childhood. Her compositions express the fragile and ephemeral qualities of these early years filled with sensitivity and humming with activity. Whispers of danger mingle with wishes for hope—and curiosity leads the way.
Inspired by the birth of her daughter in 2016, she finds nurturing and sustaining another human being has led her to new discoveries and reconnection with wonder and imagination.
EKATERINA KAZACHENKO was born May 24, 1980 in Russia. She discovered the satisfaction of drawing and painting from observed nature during annual summer stays with her grandparents in the Russian countryside.
Her thirteen years of formal art education began at the College of Art in Perm, Russia, include seven years at The Academy of Art and Culture under Professor Evgeny Shirokov, additional study at I.Repin Academic under the supervision of nationally acclaimed artist Anatoly Levitin, and she was accepted into the PhD Program in the Russian Academy of Arts in Kazan City. Kazachenko was twice selected for the National Art Exhibition in Moscow and has shown in galleries and exhibitions in Perm, Kazan, and Moscow, as well as throughout the Twin Cities area.
