Creation.Story

All My Relations Arts and the Native American Community Development Institute are pleased to present Creation.Story, a group exhibition by originators Keith BraveHeart and David Meyer (Akta Lakota Museum).

Creation.Story is an art exhibition that centers on the significance of creative expressions and oral traditions amongst Očhéthi Šakówiŋ cultures. Multiple artists representing their Očhéthi Šakówiŋ heritage provide visual artworks and creative concepts to engage audiences with the expansive creation narratives that underlie Očhéthi Šakówiŋ identity and values.

The Creation.Story exhibition incorporates the art of multiple visual artists to engage audiences with the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ oral traditions. This exhibition encourages inclusive dialogue that celebrates and rediscovers creation stories as they exist for those who carry them forward. A creation story is a sacred depiction that gives a narrative to the beginnings of time and the formation of a world. Over time, the sharing of these narratives becomes oral traditions and often grows into various versions that demonstrate the creativity of the storyteller.

Creation.Story is a traveling exhibition co-curated by Keith BraveHeart and David Meyer (Akta Lakota Museum). In addition to the original curators, each venue works with roster artists as co-curators for their location. Jaida Grey Eagle, Kylie Wanatee-Thunderhawk, and Mikayla Patton are the co-curators working with All My Relations.

Featured artists: Jhon Goes In Center, James Star Comes Out, Mikayla Patton, Randilynn Boucher-Giago, Dwayne Wilcox, Dyani White Hawk, Marlena Myles, Talon Ducheneaux, Keith BraveHeart, Jaida Grey Eagle, Kylie Wanatee-Thunderhawk, Angela Babby, Destiny Big Crow, and Billy Janis
