Butterflies & Moths of the Taiga: A Snapshot | Steph Kunze

Steph Kunze brings attention to the taiga’s often overlooked Lepidoptera, representing select species from as far north as the taiga-tundra ecotone to as far south as the deciduous-coniferous mixed forests. Working in traditional mixed media, she hand-draws each species onto fabric. Surrounding the species, she incorporates additional hand-drawn and fiber collage elements that complement the species’ distinct physical traits or habitat. As a whole, the series acts as a quilt of varying textures, colors, shapes, and patterns, inviting viewers to slow down and take notice of these enchanting creatures.

All events are free to attend. Please note that the 21 Step Gallery is located in an old building and the only way to access this gallery is by going up 18 stairs.
