After the Fall of Hmong Tebchaw

After the Fall of Hmong Tebchaw

Photographs by Pao Houa Her.

Pao Houa Her is known for her compelling and personal portraits of the local Hmong American community. The photographer was born in Laos in 1980, and at the age of three, fled the country with her family during the aftermath of the Vietnam War (also known as the American War in Vietnam). Her’s experience as an immigrant growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota—and her desire to document both Hmong history and contemporary Hmong culture—informs much of her work.
