Soomaal House of Arts presents a solo exhibition of abstract and surrealist paintings curated by the artist Aesha Mohamed.
"The title of my story, "A moon shall rise from my darkness," is a famous quote by one of my favorite Palestinian poets, Mahmoud Darwish. This title is significant because it captures the central theme of my artwork, which is the idea of hope and light emerging from darkness. The moon is a powerful symbol in my work, representing the source of comfort and healing that has helped me to overcome difficult times.
The moon is a recurring element in my paintings, symbolizing the light that can be found even in the darkest moments. Through my art, I aim to explore the ways in which the moon can provide solace and hope, and to celebrate the power of this symbol to inspire and uplift.
My paintings are a personal exploration of my own experiences with darkness and light, and a celebration of the resilience and strength that can be found within each of us. I hope that my art will inspire others to find their own sources of hope and comfort, and to embrace the light that shines within each of us." -Aesha Mohamed
