ArT @ 967 Payne presents a solo exhibition of paintings, textiles, fine-art objects and installations by Russian-born multimedia artist Yulia Sholomova, inspired by mythology, mysticism, and memories.
A LULLABY OF HIDDEN LIGHT brings together a beautiful collection of Yulia Sholomova's recent works, many created for this show. Drawing on themes of mysticism, mythology, northern forests, the inner child, belonging, and women’s emotional worlds, her pieces are a perfect fit for this season of anticipation, reflection, sharing and hope. The exquisite storytelling and pursuit of tenderness behind each of Yulia’s pieces transport viewers into a mysterious world full of "hidden light;" invites them to explore their own emotional spaces and spiritual secrets; and experience an elevated state of tranquility, self-awareness and resilience.
About the Artist:
Yulia Sholomova is a Russian-born multidisciplinary artist now living in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Working in surreal symbolism, she crafts visual metaphors that interweave memory, migration, belonging, identity, and the "inner child" with folklore, nature, and found objects. Her creative approach—an "archaeology of the everyday"—transforms canvases as well as vintage fabrics, toys, and porcelain into tactile, poetic worlds reflecting vulnerability and resilience.
Sholomova graduated with honors from Saint Petersburg State University of Technology and Design in 2005. Her artwork has been exhibited across the U.S. and Russia, including Hallberg Center for the Arts (MN), Union Street Gallery (IL), Solidarity Street Gallery (MN), Center for the Visual Arts (WI), The Art Garage (WI), White Bear Center for the Arts (MN), and ARTMUZA Museum of Contemporary Art (St. Petersburg).
