6:32 AM, THE FIRST PROMISE

6:32 AM, THE FIRST PROMISE is a series of large-scale oil paintings by Somali-American, Minneapolis-based painter Mohamed Hersi.

Created in the stillness following fajr (dawn prayer), each canvas reflects on patience, mercy, gratitude, trust and remembrance. Mohamed Hersi's paintings offer a sanctuary, inviting viewers to sit beside him at dawn, to pause, and to share in the renewal that rises with the light.

Mohamed Hersi's artistic practice resides at the intersection of minimalism and abstract expressionism, drawing inspiration from his rich cultural heritage and personal experiences. Born in New Delhi, India, following his family’s displacement from Somalia during the civil war in 1990, Mohamed immigrated to the United States at the age of 9. His artistic palette is deeply influenced by the vibrant colors and architectural marvels of his birthplace, particularly during the “holi” festival.
