Sky, Land, Water

Sky, Land, Water

Gallery artists present an exhibition highlighting majestic skies, varied topography and vegetation, and the reflective surface of the water

IC:  Clara Ueland, 'Breeze,' intaglio

Since Ancient time, and throughout art history, including the Renaissance, Romanticism, Impressionism, and into Contemporary art, artists have been compelled to paint and interpret the landscapes that surround them. In Minnesota, sky, land and water are akin to the primary colors when it comes to landscape painting.

Artists in this exhibition have been invited to show works which focus on one of these three areas – highlighting a majestic sky, capturing the varied topography and vegetation found across the land, or concentrating on the layered, reflective surface of the water. Taken as a whole, the exhibition will explore the multiplicity of subjects found in nature that have connected artists and art appreciators for hundreds of years.

Featuring the work of Groveland Gallery artists Richard Abraham, Fred Anderson, Gary Bowling, Joshua Cunningham, Anne DeCoster, Jean Gumpper, Michael Kareken, Tom Maakestad, Carl Oltvedt, Clara Ueland, Larry Welo, and Andrew Wykes, with guest artists Scott Lloyd Anderson, Carl Bretzke, Andy Evansen, Stuart Loughridge, and Bob Upton.

The artists will be present at the opening reception.
