Senior Show 2020
Light Grey Art Lab presents a virtual exhibition to recognize the works of graduating artists on an international platform.
This May, Light Grey Art Lab is hosting a virtual exhibition to recognize the works of graduating artists on an international platform. This project is open to graduating Spring 2020 artists receiving a visual arts degree. SENIOR SHOW 2020 is not only about celebrating recent grads but also connecting the artists with the global creative community via unique sponsorships & scholarships!
The exhibition is a giant virtual gallery of the world’s collective commencement exhibitions for Spring 2020. We have made it very easy for students to participate in the virtual gallery by asking for a single virtual exhibition installation applied to one of the walls in the Light Grey Art Lab exhibition space in Minneapolis. This project is designed to give the students a chance to install/curate their work, similar to a commencement exhibition and envision their collection on display. Graduates will then have their work virtually exhibited alongside their peers from schools around the globe in an effort to provide the visibility and connection they deserve at a time like this. The virtual exhibition will launch May 22nd, 2020 and will be promoted through the month of June. The galleries will be available for viewing on the Light Grey Art Lab website, featured via social media, and through promotions from our media sponsors.
In addition to the visual celebration, we are calling to action individual artists and businesses that would like to provide support, hope, and encouragement to emerging grads. There are so many ways to make a substantial difference in the life of an emerging artist. We know that sometimes all it takes is a little push, or knowing someone has your back, for some of us to grow and excel. Connections, above all, have been such an important part of the LGAL mission, including fostering an atmosphere where emerging artists connect with established folks, opportunities to learn and grow, and giving a financial boost to those in need. Individuals looking to sponsor a new grad can choose their level of support by contributing time, monetary scholarships, one-on-one conversations, or providing gifts to encourage or coach a person at the beginning of their creative journey.
Through small actions and inspiration, we know that each of us can have a greater individual impact on the world around us. The connections between sponsors and grads remains at the top of our mission and we hope to foster meaningful relationships within the global community, and expand the web of support we know already exists in the greater creative landscape.
