LIFE IS ART

LIFE IS ART

The Q.arma Building presents a retrospective of the works of Ron Mosman.

On February 11, 2023, the Q.Arma Building in NE Minneapolis will open its doors to the never-before-seen art of Ron Mosman, spanning the life of this talented and uniquely thoughtful artist, whose extensive body of works has only recently been discovered.

In his representation of people, situations, and the world around him, Ron found an affinity with the impressionists and post-impressionists, with a particular penchant for Vincent Van Gogh.

Drawing from his childhood in a rural community, Ron filled the scenes he painted with a sense of childlike wonder, joy, and curiosity. As an artist, he often focused on the eyes or movement within the scene to capture the soul and the essence of his subjects, which allowed their personalities to unfold and evolve and yet retain vigor and intensity of expression.

Ron enjoyed a few one-man shows in his day, but he never sought the approval of the mainstream art world, preferring to create for himself and for the sake of creating. He once said, “I don’t paint or create things because I like to do it. It actually hurts me, but I paint and I create because I have to do it. I have to get it out of me.”  And create he did.

After his passing in June of 2020, a multitude of never-before-seen works of art were unearthed by his children, to their great joy and amazement. Since that time his daughter, Miki Mosman, has been displaying his art on social media to rave reviews. The demand for more images has led to this one-man show of an artist who captured the moments of his life with brilliance, heart, and humility.

The art of Ron Mosman will be shown in two areas:

Gallery One will have a selection of physical works, while Gallery Two will feature a multimedia presentation of his life, including his work as a radio DJ.

Curated by his loving daughter, the show will be running through February 18, 2023.
