New Works By Kieran Myles Andrés Tverbakk
Kieran Myles Andrés Tverbakk presents their first solo exhibition and composed of new labor-intensive and conceptual sculpture works that hold a conversation of gender identity, of reclamation.
Found and collected materials are given new functions through tedious technical undertakings by the artist. The featured work Web is meticulously constructed of chains of bent nails, a reflection of recognizable utility. The show echoes a sentiment of boundaries and our proximity influenced perspective.
“In my work, I consider what it means to have ownership over my identity, my body, and my heritage. In owning these parts of me I create representations of my truth that simultaneously reveal the potentially dire consequences of making a brown trans body visible. When we are seen for who and what we truly are, we are empowered, stronger, together. However, our visibility makes us a target for hate and violence."
