death as art

Published June 6th, 2007 by Emma Berg

on my walk home from work today i came across a tiny mouse, dead on the sidewalk. after finding a discarded coffee cup i scooped him up and hid him in the bushes by circa...hoping that he could disappear quietly & alone. the juxtaposition of a tiny dead creature against the cold concrete always makes me sad.

In contradiction, i cannot stop being enchanted with damien hirst, whose animals are splayed out for us to view…but perhaps it is the sadness of it that captures me.
