It’s been a long day in the hot sun and it’s been decided…every piece John Grider does from now on must have swimming pool access. Absolutely amazing!

The octopus goes up on the pool house tomorrow. Thanks to Mike, Ted and all the others who helped out. A special thanks to Denny for being so fucking cool. Look for the time-lapse to be posted as soon as we finish off this jug of aloe vera gel. wow.

death as art

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

on my walk home from work today i came across a tiny mouse, dead on the sidewalk. after finding a discarded coffee cup i scooped him up and hid him in the bushes by circa…hoping that he could disappear quietly & alone. the juxtaposition of a tiny dead creature against the cold concrete always makes me sad.

In contradiction, i cannot stop being enchanted with damien hirst, whose animals are splayed out for us to view…but perhaps it is the sadness of it that captures me.

Hipster Tees Galore!

Friday, June 1st, 2007

The annual Soo VAC garage sale fundraiser is this weekend. I took a peek in the window and there are piles and piles of perfectly wearable, ironic tees to be scoured through. Many that will end up being seen at the CC Club later that night, I’m sure. And all for a good cause.

They’ve added a few entertainment goodies to entice you this year too! Here’s the full story…

“Calling all thrifters, scavangers, and treasure hunters. The SooSalvage yard sale fundraiser is this Saturday, June 2nd from 10am-5pm, and Sunday, June 3rd from 10am-4pm.

From oddities to essentials, this sale has it all. A dining set, rollerskates, electronics, a Slayer charm necklace, kid stuff, books, CDs and DVDs, a Master P poncho, sheets of stained glass, jewelery, crafting materials, casting materials, fashion and design magazines, and tons of clothes. Did we mention the Slayer charm necklace?

Come back down Sunday morning for Bingo Brunch and a Bloody Mary Bar sponsored by French Meadow Bakery and Shakers. Then stay late Sunday evening for the Dollar Bag Sale, an evening of performance and great deals sponsored by The Herkimer. Entertainment by Brain Candle Light Orchestra, Thank You, and Bulky Dance. $3 cover. Doors at 7pm.”
