Women Who Ink

Modus Locus is pleased to present a group exhibition of works featuring 5 female tattoo artists. The “Women Who Ink” show will run from June 4, 2016 – July 14, 2016 with an opening reception Saturday June 4th from 6-9 p.m. The opening night exhibition will feature a tattoo fashion show with models presenting tattoo art in motion on their bodies, and other surprises.

5 artists will be featured in the show: Alex Gregory, Mo Richard, Bambi Wendt, Emilie Robinson, and Jacoba Kaufman. This show will feature work of different media that will investigate how tattoo art has affected their personal work and visa versa.

It takes a remarkably strong woman to become a tattoo artist in a male-dominated industry. This show will reveal how these artists are adapting as they continue working on their personal art as they currently work as tattoo artists. For this show, we will be hanging all the pieces together salon style, showcasing the very unique styles of each artist beside their counterparts. We hope to create a lyrical world and atmosphere in the gallery that is distinct to the applied process and art of tattoo, yet showcase the individual talents and musings of each individual artist in this collection of their personal work.

opening reception Friday, June 4th from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Saturday from 2-8pm, and by appointment.
