Unsettling beauty in archeological vignettes by Denise Rouleau
Denise Rouleau’s imagined archeological vignettes created in clay and mixed media provoke questions about about life, death, and human nature; the impact of generations, whose bones, relics, and vain dreams of immortality fill the earth under our feet. Denise’s sculpted mummies and remains are multi-layered in story and significance. She reveals an unsettling beauty in the macabre and addresses current political, environmental and social issues with strands of humor and irony.
