Transplanting Cityscapes - Carolina Borja

Transplanting Cityscapes - Carolina Borja

Transplanting Cityscapes is Carolina Borja’s first solo exhibition. This mobile installation reflects on the idea that individuals fluctuate from city to city. Individuals group into organisms, forming part of ideal communities. These communities grow, but reality is always a distortion compared to idealization.
Nowadays we choose and seek our own ecosystems, and we are inspired by how they might look and what they represent. We arrange ourselves like plants on display, showing our possibility to blossom. We stand straight in an attempt to reflect what we wish we were. We transplant from one pot to another, dreaming to grow roots in the right place. We are affected by all and nothing. It is still water, light and air we really need to be alive.
This body of work has been realized through Borja’s residency at The White Page. She was able to experiment with space and mobility of artworks while using materials such as concrete, paper and plants.
