The Other Border

The Other Border

Photography by Dallas Crow

While the Southern border of the U.S. seems to be in the news every day, “The Other Border,” a sparsely-populated, roughly 2000-mile stretch from International Falls to the Pacific Ocean, including parts of five states, encompasses forests, lakes, rivers, plains, farms, mountains, desert, dwindling small towns, two national parks, and two exclaves.

This documentary project looks at a large swath of the U.S. that is often ignored by the national media, popular culture, and most tourists, and has been left almost entirely untouched by the economy of big box stores, malls, and chain restaurants and motels. The photos in this exhibit offer glimpses into parts of an America that few Americans ever see or think about.
