Hilary Greenstein presents new paintings at the Paul Whitney Larson Art Gallery

The Paul Whitney Larson Gallery presents "Stranger," featuring new paintings by local emerging artist Hilary Greenstein. Greenstein’s paintings address thresholds, particularly the line between reality and fiction, care and harm, self and other. She paints multiple children engaged in strange interactions that evoke both violence and lightheartedness. Through this precarious playfulness, she creates unease as to whether the viewer is witnessing childish mischief or an allegory for something more pernicious. Her figures exist in colorful, abstract environments, allowing for layers of dimensionality and flatness to complicate her ambiguous narratives.
