Stand Out Prints

An International Juried Print Exhibition

Highpoint Center for Printmaking is pleased to present Stand Out Prints, their fourth international juried print exhibition. 75 artists and prints (across three countries and 21 states) were selected from more than 900 submissions through an international call.

Juror Crawford Alexander Mann III offered the following remarks:
The moment of being face-to-face with a work of art offers special opportunities to admire physical and material qualities that are often lost in the Instagram age. Such qualities might be the richness of the colors in a silkscreen, carefully selected and juxtaposed for impact; how a woodblock interacts with the texture of the paper; or etched lines that form important details but are too subtle to translate in reproduction. As a viewer, I want to study the prints and put myself in their makers’ shoes. What were the artists thinking? Did they expect and carefully plan these results? Which beautiful passages are happy accidents of the materials, or perhaps moments of improvisation?

The public is invited to an opening reception. At this free event, guests will have the opportunity to mingle, tour HP’s printshop, and enjoy beverages and hors d’oeuvres. Stand Out Prints Juror, Crawford Alexander Mann III, will give brief remarks that evening at 7 pm.
