Open Casket 2016

Casket Arts in Northeast Minneapolis hosts their annual campus-wide open studio event.

Casket Art's talented tenant artists will open their studios and exhibit exciting new work. Guest artists will line the hallways, showcasing their artwork, jewelry, crafts, apparel, and more.

Friday, October 7th, 5-10pm
Saturday, October 8th, 12-8pm
Sunday, October 9th, 12-5pm

Highlights:
Quench Jewelry Arts will be running live jewelry-making demonstrations all weekend, including live casting. Casket Arts Live has a full lineup of folk and americana bands up on the 4th floor. There will be a closing reception for Grupo Soap Del Corazon, a group show going on at Franconia in the City’s gallery. Local Franconian Peyton Scott Russell will also have a giant outdoor mural in progress in the courtyard. Casket Cinema will have a screening on Saturday as well. Food trucks on site include The Anchor Fish & Chips, O'Cheeze, and A Peace of Cake (mini-donuts!). Plus beer and wine inside!

Not to be missed, Open Casket will feature some of the best local makers in one of Northeast's flagship studio buildings. The home of the Northwestern Casket Company from 1882 to 2005, Casket Arts has been a thriving artspace for close to ten years. Over a hundred artists and artisans maintain studios in the campus's three buildings, including prominent painters, photographers, printmakers, sculptors, ceramicists, jewelers, and fiber artists. Franconia in the City also maintains a gallery and sculpture park in the back courtyard.

Sponsored by The Draft Horse & Franconia Sculpture Park.
