A newly created exhibit showcasing the work of local artist Mike Murray. This series of landscape abstractions captures our northern environs in dramatic, painterly fashion. Murray’s multi-layered process of blending oil paint and cold wax on wooden panels creates a textured surface that provides a translucent quality to the artworks. 

 

Subject matter of the works ranges from Lake Superior shores of granite rock upheavals to placid hillside formations beholden to cirrus skies. This painterly homage to the north beckons validation to the landscape we call home.
