Made In Cuba / Hecho En Cuba: Recycling Memory and Culture, Part II

Made In Cuba / Hecho En Cuba: Recycling Memory and Culture, Part II

Featuring 70 artists on a wide range of themes and disciplines, from the political to the spiritual to american pop culture—viewed from afar.

In conjunction with the Walker Art Center's Adios Utopia, Squirrel Haus will be showing the collection from the New York Center for Cuban Studies.

The work includes photography and posters, folk art, paintings, drawings, prints, small sculpture, ceramics and wearable art, and themes that range from the vaguely political to spiritual to American pop culture, viewed afar from the Cuban nation, even though only 90 miles from the U.S mainland.

On opening night, Squirrel Haus Arts will become a mini-version of Havana’s famed Fábrica del Arte Cubano (Cuban ArtFactory). Music performances by Charanga Tropical and DJ Larry Englund from KFAI spinning rare Cuban vinyl all night. Snacks and drinks. This is a free event.

The exhibit's regular hours will be 12 to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
