Katayoun Amjadi

Katayoun explores themes of identity, perception, and interconnection in an increasingly globalized world. She often picks a popular cultural and historical symbol like a pomegranate or a Persian ibex and re-work it into new visual statements; creating a synthesis between a pictorial heritage of the past and the new language of contemporary art. In each work, the symbolism of iconic images serves as the background to her attempts to reconcile the relationship between past and present, tradition and modernity, and individual versus collective identity, as well as to inspire dialogue about our understanding of time and the tangled roots of our histories.

Qian Liu

Qian’s work is inhabited by the self-destructive nature of relationships. The work is a meticulous collecting of mornings, of nights, of anxieties and of absurdities, signifying nothing else.

Jane Powers

The biomedical field holds a fascination for Jane.  Through her sculptures, she is creating curious visions that consider future biomedical developments in genetic engineering, tissue culturing and xenotransplantation.  She is asking, what technologies do we want to invest in and how will we choose to use them for healing and enhancing our human biology?  In addition to “repairing” our bodies, how will we adopt these technologies to design/reinvent our “natural” bodies in order to project a personalized identity?

Mayumi Amada

Mayumi Amada is an installation artist from Japan. Her work explores women in a generational context and she uses a doily in various settings and materials as a vehicle for this investigation. Her recent work is focused on a circle of life and eternity in mortality.
