Future Developments

Future Developments is a collection of 13 15 artists whose work will be employed to create an ad hoc sequence of distinct but relatively related exhibitions to build the whole of the exhibition. This ever-changing show, with a new iteration every two weeks or so, will include several artists previously exhibited at the gallery. There may even be some surprises, cameos, guest appearances, etc.

First Iteration Reception (Opening) April 23 7PM - 9PM
To inaugurate the exhibition, Future Developments presents work by MN north-woodsman Aaron Spangler, St. Paul native Jessica Dickinson, NY veteran Adam Henry, and two Los Angeles artists whose names both begin with the letter ‘L,’ Lisa Williamson and Lander Burton.  Upcoming iterations and events will be posted on the website and via email and social media.

Third Iteration Reception June 11th 7PM - Midnight
For the third iteration of Future Developments, it is complete chaos. Artwork everywhere. New additions to the exhibition include work by Mpls stalwart Joe Smith, Brooklyn's Bianca Beck and Shawn Kuruneru, and Los Angeleno Kristen Van Deventer.

Fourth Iteration Reception June 23rd 6-8PM
"For the fourth iteration of Future Developments, we have cleaned house and brought in an entirely new exhibition. Joe Smith and Kristen Van Deventer are still around but showing work that was not here when last we met. Kristen has new paintings that may or may not convey her growing distaste for Los Angeles, you'd have to ask her though, but I warn you, she has a lot going on. Joe is into some new shit with his 'failed handshake' prints and the pathos is almost too much to bear. NYers Robin Cameron and Shawn Kuruneru have shared sculptures and paintings, respectively, that I want to live with when this is all said and done. And Lisa Williamson returns with her seductive totems but please don't touch."​

Finale Reception August 6th 6-9PM
"Future Developments is finally concluding. This exhibition has been a collection of 13 14 15 artists whose work has been employed to create an ad hoc sequence of distinct but relatively related exhibitions to build the whole of the exhibition. This ever-changing show, with a new iteration every two weeks or so (all depending on how I felt), included several artists previously exhibited at the gallery; a former undergraduate classmate of yours truly; someone with whom I share a birthday; a past exhibitor at Art of This; and two artists I have yet to meet in person. To keep you on your toes, as they say, there have been be some surprises, cameos, guest appearances, that sort of thing. Two more HAPPY HOUR events,Saturday, August 13 and 20, 4pm on the Patio!"
