Dan Choma | Loose Bearings & Sound Sayings

Dan Choma | Loose Bearings & Sound Sayings

Artist and musician Dan Croma presents 50 new pen and ink illustrations at Humble Cup on the West Bank

Inspiration for Choma’s work is found in narratives that exist in regular life, be they mundane or otherwise. The work features hints of depression, anxiety, religion, and individualism in an increasingly corporate world.

Each individual frame is structured as if it is a joke, even if there is nothing comical to be seen. Though the work can be humorous, it is created in the legacy of both fine artists such as Raymond Pettibon and comic artists such as Harvey Pekar to use the pedagogy of humor to express candid human narratives.

Opening Reception
An opening party for the exhibition will be held October 14, 2016 starting at 6:30pm. and feature music provided by Toni Wolff’s Dream Wedding, a punk jazz band consisting of Dan Choma, Nick Gaudette, Mike Vasich, and Evan Bierer. Additional parties are yet to be announced.
