EXHIBITION DETAILS:
Open Book Takeover - Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr.
On view throughout Open Book
Through generous funding from The Joyce Foundation, Amos is working with the Twin Cities community to print thousands of posters for an exhibition spanning the entire 55,000 square-foot Open Book facility as a building-wide “takeover.”

Free for All Zine Reading Lounge - Curated and presented by the Twin Cities Zine Fest
Main Gallery
Grab a seat and check out some of the hundreds of zines in this interactive reading lounge! Webster says that “zines are noncommercial frequently homemade publications usually devoted to specialized and often unconventional subject matter.” The organizers of the Twin Cities Zine Fest aimed to curate the most eclectic set of publications possible.

(About that) Water is Life - Curated by Heid E. Erdrich
Main Gallery
This gathering of visual art and alternatively published writing from Indigenous artists, poets, filmmakers, and their collaborators is created in solidarity around an essential concept, common to many Indigenous cultures: Water is Life. This past year, tens of thousands of people joined activists in camps at Standing Rock, ND. Their activism was centered around prayer and creative acts–proving that Indigenous resistance founds itself in, and asserts our presence through, art. This exhibit focuses on art that lived in and grew out of the Water Protector camps and other actions to protect our water for all.

Reader's Art: Control/Alt/Shift - Curated by Susan Hensel and Jeff Rathermel
Cowles Literary Commons
This international juried exhibition explores three related themes: the politics of control; alternative methods of public discourse; and the ever-shifting nature of social norms and values. Continuing a tradition that started at the Susan Hensel Gallery in Minneapolis, Reader's Art is dedicated to supporting new voices, emerging artists and students.

End of Times 2 - Organized by Mary Bruno
Lerner Bindery Gallery
End of Times is a project that began 12/21/2012 with the first print exchange dealing with the possibility of an apocalypse with the close of the Mayan calendar. This sequel combines 20 letterpress printers from before (2012) and 21 printers from now (2017) to bring forth a new and exciting collection of letterpress prints reacting to the current world climate.

Stamp of Disapproval
Lerner Bindery Gallery
Curated from MCBA’s S. Helmes and W. Gaglione Rubber Stamp Archive, this exhibition features the art of resistance through physical stamps, correspondence art and fake postage stamps. Work demonstrates how the authority of a seal or stamp can be used for social and political commentary.

Meander - Alyssa Baguss
Outlook Gallery
From Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico, the Mississippi River wanders a path of least resistance through 2,320 miles of the United States. Throughout history this route has been traveled using human guides, paper maps and now the digital navigation systems in our cell phones. Meander is a hands-on exploration of river topography using digital imagery, virtual navigation, and paper cutting.
