A Minnesota Rookery

Saint Paul artist Laura Corcoran is fascinated by extraordinary yet common natural occurrences: the ability of birds to navigate using the stars, the ability of a bee to dance directions to a flower. 

She’s equally interested in and concerned about the disruptions human actions have on the natural process and environment. Using printmaking as her medium (primarily linocuts, lithographs, and monoprints), Corcoran’s images are informed by both her study and observations of these natural phenomena as well as the challenges posed by her own actions and the actions of her species.
