The Shape of Things, The Beauty in Madness, & Portraits: Past & Present

Praxis Gallery presents three new exhibitions: The Shape of Things, The Beauty in Madness, & Portraits: Past & Present.

Gallery 1: The Shape of Things.

Praxis Gallery presents works of art that explore composition as a fundamental aspect of the photographic aesthetic – be it pure visual formalism or in support of thematic objectives. Juried by Ross Anderson

Gallery 2: The Beauty in Madness (a Mental Health Awareness Month exhibit).

Praxis Gallery presents photographic art that explores ideas linked to mental health, be it conflict or humor, fiction, or fact, or any other literal or ephemeral lens-based investigation. Curated by: Praxis Directors

Gallery 3: Portraits: Past & Present, a group presentation.

The Lab Gallery presents a group exhibit of portraits from the 2023 Cokato Corn Carnival in Cokato, Minnesota. All photographs were created in the original Gust Akerlund daylight photo studio built on Main St. in 1904. Join us at 5:15 PM to hear a presentation on this project from former war correspondent and renowned photographer, Richard Sennott.

An opening night reception on May, 18, 2024, from 6 to 8PM, celebrates the debut of three new exhibitions at Praxis Gallery & Photographic Arts Center in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis.

This event is free and open to the public. Twenty-Three Minnesota artists are featured in three group shows, along with artists from 24 other states and 9 foreign countries.
